IMPORTANT NOTICE, FIRE & WATER SAFETY

We have been advised that East Sussex is likely to be declared in official drought status later today (10th August 2026).

In line with guidance from the Caravan and Motorhome Club, and several of our neighbouring Centres, the Committee has agreed the following immediate precautionary measure:

🔥 NO OPEN FIRES, BARBECUES OR OPEN-FLAME COOKING IS PERMITTED OUTSIDE OF YOUR UNIT

This applies at all ESCC rallies and events until further notice.

What this means:

* No open fires, campfires or fire pits

* No charcoal, wood or gas barbecues used outside

* No open-flame cookers or burners used in the open air

* Fire buckets outside as many as possible.

* Cooking is permitted only inside your caravan, motorhome or fully enclosed awning, provided your appliance is designed for indoor use and ventilation is adequate

Why we’re doing this:

* Extreme fire risk dry ground and vegetation ignite easily

* Consistency matching CAMC national policy and sister-Centre guidance

* Safety first protecting you, our fellow members, wildlife and the countryside.

We know many of you enjoy outdoor cooking, and we apologise for the inconvenience but safety and compliance must come first. As soon as the risk reduces, we will lift this restriction immediately.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

East Sussex Centre is one of many local centres within the Caravan and Motorhome Club. We usually hold 2 or 3 rallies each month and all members of the CAMC are very welcome to join us. Details of these are on our ‘Rallies’ page. Most are within the East Sussex area but occasionally we venture further afield.  Please take a look at our rallies and see if there is anything to tempt you. If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We have a thriving youth section for your children or grandchildren to join, there is a tuck shop on most rallies and often activities organised for the youngsters.

If you are interested in joining our centre, please do so either via the club membership section on the CAMC website (click HERE to go to CAMC Membership) or by phone using the number on your CAMC membership card.  It doesn’t cost any extra to join a centre.

Existing Centre members may want to download this form to suggest a new rally site. Please send to the rally secretary rallysecretary@eastsussexcc.org.uk
